feel-inertia said: You might have already reacted to it, in which case I missed it. But what is your take on the actions CBR is taking? The closing their forums and all that. I wish I could link the article. But, it's going around on Tumblr. So, you might have seen it.

Honestly, I’m a little baffled by it. People have been telling the people running CBR about how female-unfriendly it is for years. People have been pointing out that really vicious trolls were protected by moderators for ages. I brought it up a dozen times myself and was told, “it’s good for hits.” It’s why I left CBR after making my home there for years.

So, no, I really don’t believe this very, very late indignation, not one bit.  This stuff was going on for years, they all knew it, they thought it was good for traffic and that let everyone know it was okay to KEEP doing it.

It makes me sad, but that’s the truth of it. I wouldn’t make such a big deal of it, but the difference in going from CBR to the Bendis boards was simply immense. The misogyny and other bullshit stopped IMMEDIATELY.

I love Jonah, I still really like a lot of CBR, but I don’t buy this sudden outrage even a jot. If they cared about this, they would have listened to the dozens of women who complained about it previously.

Um, I don’t normally reblog activism stuff, but… this is interesting.

Dear Catherine, I’ve been sitting here thinking about all the things I wanted to apologize to you for. All the pain we caused each other. Everything I put on you. Everything I needed you to be or needed you to say. I’m sorry for that. I’ll always love you ‘cause we grew up together and you helped make me who I am. I just wanted you to know there will be a piece of you in me always, and I’m grateful for that. Whatever someone you become, and wherever you are in the world, I’m sending you love. You’re my friend to the end. Love, Theodore.

(in the movies)

strategic hazard intervention espionage logistics directorate

(in the comics, post-1991. notice there aren’t any commas that time.)

supreme headquarters, international espionage, law-enforcement division.

(pre-1991. really they’re just trying to find any words that make “shield”. they don’t care what their function is.)
